Gaga has met with performance artist Lady Starlight during this time in 2007; following her performance at the Lollapalooza Festival in 2007 Gaga was signed by Vince Herbert to Streamline Records which is an imprint from Interscope Records. Gaga was an apprentice songwriter in the course of an experience at Famous Music Publishing. This business was later purchased and changed its name to Sony/ATV Music Publishing. She was then commissioned to write songs for the benefit of Britney Spears, labelmates New Kids on the Block and Fergie. At Interscope, singer-songwriter Akon recognized her vocal abilities when she sang a reference vocal for one of his tracks in studio; Akon then convinced Interscope-Geffen-A&M Chairman and CEO Jimmy Iovine to form a joint deal by having her also sign with his own label Kon Live, making her his "franchise player. The debut album of Gaga's in 2008 'The Fame' received lukewarm radio coverage. Gaga went on tour in Europe and in the US to promote her debut album. But it was not until her 2009 smash "Just Dance," that widespread attention was paid to her music. Gaga was suffering from a labral injury in her right hip. She was keeping it under wraps for several weeks so that she could continue the tour. Following her show in Toronto Gaga, she was unable to walk, and was suffering from severe pain. She was taken to the hospital, and her tour was canceled.
